Belle Isle Teams up with Camp Staff for Food Collection
The Belle Isle Rotary members (Sterling Sobey, Joe Steffano, Mike Triant, Tony Zambuto Tom Hankard and Vera Carducci) and the great staff from the Salesian's Boys & Girls Club (Zoe Bakos and Damian Salgado) collected food items at Market Basket in Revere to donate to the East Boston Salesian's Boys & Girls Club camp to help offset their summer camp food budget. Belle Isle Rotary is so grateful to Market Basket Revere for letting us collect the food items at their store and we were blown away by the generosity of the shoppers on Friday July 16th 2021.
Wakefield Wraps Up Impactful Year of Service
The Wakefield Rotary Club is pleased to announce that it completed 421 hours of community service, 9 service projects and donated over $16k last Rotary year, which ended on June 30, 2021. Immediate Past President John Tramontozzi commented, “During the pandemic, we’re especially thrilled that we were able to remain active and impactful as a club.”

Projects were completed using social distancing with a priority on safety, allowing Rotarians who chose to attend in-person projects to feel safe. Projects included writing cards for the veterans of Wakefield, creating blankets for the Special Care Nursery at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, and packaging party-to-go bags for the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry. Club Service Chair Judy Gordon noted, “These projects helped others and lifted our spirits during a very challenging time for everyone."

With limited opportunities for in-projects, the club focused its donations on impactful projects. Locally, gifts were made to the Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield, the town’s virtual Mental Health Community Forum, and supporting holiday gifts for Wakefield families to name a few. The club also contributed funds to the Rotary Foundation’s efforts towards disease prevention and treatment, supported a project to buy respirators for India’s COVID patients and the Chelsea Rotary Club’s trip to Texas to assist with a winter storm’s damage to water service.

The club will be returning to in-person meetings full time starting August 17, 2021 with safety rules in place.
