Final Call for Tix to Heroes' Event

PDG Bob Wood Memorial Heroes' Celebration is fast approaching on November 12 at the Andover Country Club 5:30 pm. This is going to be a fantastic event and not to be missed! Please sign up now. There is a hard deadline to register for tickets to the event: Sunday, November 2.

Here is the link to register attendance for the event. Please register your Military Veteran Hero/PHF and any guests that may be coming. Your club will be responsible for payment for your honoree and any guests.

Special guests are: RI Director Chris Etienne and guest speaker, Retired Brigadier General Jack Hammond, Director of Home Base.

Grant for Home Base. Please let Joan Arsenault, thewellbeing@comcast.net, know if your club is able to contribute to the GRANT for Home Base. We need to raise $10,000 to support this grant. The total grant is $20,000 and the District is providing $10,000 from TRF DDF. The grant provides back packs to veterans and their families with supplies for the intensive mental health program to help reduce suicide risk. In addition, the grant will be buying flags for the Memorial Day Flag Garden on the commons. These flags are for fallen heroes since the civil war. Rotary will be involved in packing the back packs as well as setting up and removing the flags.

DG Nomination Deadline Extended

Deadline to submit the Nominations for District Governor (2028-29) has been extended until Friday, October 31, 2025.

District 7930 is looking for the future leader for Rotary Year 2028-2029 to carry its flagship forward! This is our Rotary District.

Let's make every effort in order to make its impact more meaningful and magical going forward! We are all in this together!

Please propose suitable candidates who meet the qualifications to serve.

If you feel that your club has such a leader among your members, (including yourself) please consider putting them forward to help fulfill Rotary's ongoing missions.

The nomination form can be downloaded here. In addition to the nomination form, please include a Rotary-focused resume of the candidate, as well as the candidate's vision statement of what they would like to accomplish for our district in their year as district governor. Make District 7930 a Leader in Ending Polio

As we celebrate Rotary’s incredible progress toward a polio-free world, now is the time for District 7930 to step up and lead the charge! Across the Rotary network, districts are making remarkable strides through their PolioPlus Society efforts. Let’s take a moment to applaud the top performers in the PolioPlus Challenge.

1st Place is District 7010 with 217 PPS members, representing 14.97% of District members;

2nd Place is District 6360 with 253 PPS members, representing 12.75%; and

3rd is District 7980 with 122 PPS members, representing 6.59% of their members.

District 7930 has the heart, passion, and reach to be next on that list. Every club can make an impact—one member, one pledge, one conversation at a time. We have 76 PPS in D7930.

Interact JumpStart TwoFive

The District Interact Council is sponsoring “Jumpstart TwoFive,” a panel discussion designed for Rotary Advisors and Interact leaders for sharing best practices.

Sunday, November 2, from 2-4 pm at Stoneham Teen Center, 79 Central St, Stoneham.

Five Interact leaders and RYLA alum will share success stories and field questions. This event is designed to address the number one concern shared by Interact Advisors across the District - how can we help our kids regain their pre-Covid vibrancy?

See if you or your kids struggle with any of these:

My students are too busy - they can’t find time to meet;

They face too much competition from other clubs...can’t find any Rotarians to help me with Interact;

Our club seems to have lost its way - they just don’t seem to have enthusiasm anymore.

Regardless of what challenges you face, this event is a space for sharing and discovery. And everyone who comes will have something of value to bring as well, because each of you have a heart for these kids. Together we can lift them up and inject new energy into the program. Nothing chases away the weariness like renewed purpose. Admission is free to all!

Wakefield Honors World Polio Day

October 24th marks World Polio Day, a day to recognize the more than 35-year fight to end polio world-wide. This year, the Wakefield Rotary Club is again committing to helping eradicate the disease.

This week, Wakefield Rotarians recognized the past contributions of its members to the eradication efforts while re-committing to continue the efforts towards ending polio for good. Past Presidents Barbara Worley and Wendy Maguire reflected on the decades-long efforts from Wakefield Rotarians to combat polio via fundraising and education. Past President Jay Curley noted, “Although the world is so close to eradication, I know Rotarians will continue until polio is gone completely.”

According to Rotary’s polio educational website, “Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Rotary’s advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort.”

Woburn Thanks Scouts

Last week Woburn Rotary invited Assistant Scout Master Brian Grace and Scout Unit Commissioner Dave Frizzell of Woburn Scouts Pack 502 to speak about the work that the scouts do in the community and the leadership skills that are learned in the scouts. We were especially grateful for the work the scouts did for our Flags for Heroes program lead by past Rotary Club of Woburn President Bill Sullivan. The scouts helped to install the base mounts into the ground so the flags could fly in Ferullo Park in North Woburn. Rotary Club of Woburn President Danny Walbourne presented the scouts with a donation.

Reading Donates AED to Flint Library

At its dinner meeting at Austin Prep this week, Reading Rotary was pleased to welcome Sharon Kelleher, Library Director of North Reading’s Flint Memorial Library. Sharon accepted a donation for the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for the library. Flint Memorial is North Reading's public library.

Sharon had reached out to Rotarian Peter Majane seeking assistance with the project. There was a pressing need to have an AED on the fourth floor especially because the elevator is not currently working and the additional stairs created greater potential for incidents requiring the device. Pictured are President Amy Walsh, Peter Majane, and Library Director Sharon Kelleher.

Reading Rotary is proud to support the communities of both Reading and North Reading, continuing our mission of service above self. Reading Rotary also sponsors the North Reading High School Interact Club and annually offers scholarships to North Reading graduating seniors.
