My Personal Toastmasters Journey
I moved to Massachusetts in the fall of 2015 and became a Rotarian a few months later. I was fortunate enough to become President of the Lynnfield Rotary, District Grant Subcommittee chair and an Assistant Governor. It became clear that for a Rotarian, public speaking was going to be an essential skill. I had been giving presentations in a variety of roles for many years.  While feeling comfortable in front of a group, I did not have was the ability to get a focused evaluation of a speech. When Rotary announced an alliance with Toastmasters, I saw an opportunity to learn more about the art of public speaking and improve my overall technique. After a bit of research I joined The North Shore Toastmasters Club in Peabody.

Lynn Tech Students Present Tolerance and Inclusivity Workshop
At a recent virtual meeting of the Rotary Club of Lynn, some of the Skills USA team from the Lynn Vocational Technical Institute presented a workshop to the members. The workshop presentation was entitled Building Tolerance and Inclusivity. The presenting team members were: Juan Cubides-Ramirez, Nyssa Lewis, Brian Lopez-Mejia, assisted by Alexandra Rodriquez and Ambar Rodriquez. SkillsUSA is a national partnership, with over 20,000 chapters all over the country, formed by students, teachers and industries working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. . The Lynn chapter creates dozens of programs every school year.
In this time of racial divide and the issue of White Privilege the team of students led by faculty advisor Jason McCuish and co-advisor Claire Price decided on a presentation of Building Tolerance and Inclusivity. The objectives were as follows:
1. Grow in your understanding of empathy.
2. Define: marginalization ,micro aggression, implicit bias, and privilege.
3. Engage in reflections that will support your progression toward more tolerance and inclusivity.
RYLA Reunion 2021!
We are so excited to announce the plan that is underway for RYLA 2021! This year, instead of inviting new participants, we will be focused on our RYLA Alumni (initially from the past 3 years) inviting them to participate in additional leadership training (and lots of fun!) with our RYLA Reunion 2021!

The Reunion will start off with an on-line leadership training session on July 25th. This session will focus on Resilient and Adaptive Leadership and will be led by Tisha - a superstar RYLA presenter from our 2019 RYLA!
