The Job of a Lifetime

Being a District Governor is the most rewarding position I have ever held, so much that I stepped up to serve the district a second time. Although the commitment might appear to be daunting, the opportunity to serve Rotarians in District 7930 is filled with so many opportunities.

The training that is provided to an incoming Governor is extensive. From engagement and advice from Past District Governors to the interaction with my NEPELS and Zone classmates to the training received from Rotary International at Zone and the International Assembly, there is no other program geared at preparing someone for such a role. I have done my best to learn the mechanics of Rotary and to provide the leadership to support clubs in their quest to provide service to their communities and the world to “Create Lasting Impact.”

Swampscott's 45th Annual Cookout for NE-ARC & Bridgewell

Last weekend Swampscott Rotary held our 45th annual cookout for Northeast ARC (NE-ARC) and Bridgewell. NE-ARC and Bridgewell are organizations that help people with disabilities become full participants in the community; choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize and play.

We hosted and served 100 guests on a gorgeous summer day. We had must extra help from friends and Marblehead/Swampscott Elderact members. Our guests enjoyed our food, games and the music of our DJ of all 45 years, Swampscott Rotary's current President, David Legere.

Ipswich-Rowley Delivers Groceries Weekly to Newbury Food Pantry

Ipswich-Rotary Rotarians volunteer weekly at the First Parish Newbury Food Pantry, delivering food to both Rowley and Ipswich residents. Pictured is Rotarian John Witzig, assisted by fellow Rotarians Ann Witzig, John and Diane Herth, and Gina and Joe Healy.

The pantry serves the seven towns of Newbury, Newburyport, West Newbury, Salisbury, Rowley, Ipswich, and Georgetown. The 100% volunteer First Parish Newbury Pantry provides food to over 750 people each Friday, serving guests by assisting them with online ordering, filling orders, delivering groceries, and offering contact-free pickup for those who have transportation. https://www.newburyfoodpantry.org/

Arlington's Greg Anderson Passes

The Rotary Club of Arlington is saddened to announce the passing of Greg B. Anderson, a dedicated Rotarian whose 52 years of service began when he joined the club on April 23, 1974. He served as club president in 1980–1981, a Paul Harris Fellow +2, he was first named a Paul Harris Fellow in 1986, and served as secretary of Arlington Rotary for the past 10 years.

Greg continued a three-generation Anderson family tradition of service to the Arlington Rotary Club. His father, Roger Anderson, joined in 1958, became a Paul Harris Fellow, and served for 28 years. His grandfather, Nils Anderson, was a member from 1925 to 1969, contributing 44 years of service. Together, the three generations of Andersons gave a combined 124 years of service to Rotary.

A respected leader, Greg has played key roles in fostering community spirit, organizing fundraisers, and supporting outreach programs. His contributions were recognized at his 50^th anniversary by District Governor Tom Hankard, DG Elect Terry Rezendes Curran and State Representative Sean Garballey, who presented him with a State House proclamation.

Greg’s wife, Nola, provided her unwavering support and presence at various Club projects in Greg’s journey underscoring the importance of family and support systems in sustaining long-term service commitments.

The weekly eBulletin depends on the content provided by clubs, so please submit your stories and we will publish them on the district website and in the next eBulletin. Stories that showcase your club or event should be submitted via the website portal at this link. Your club's successes and events can give inspiration to other Rotarians.

The deadline for submitting items for the weekly District 7930 eBulletin is Friday morning in order to be included in the following Monday's edition. If the eBulletin being prepared is getting to be too long and the story submitted is not time-sensitive, we may choose to delay including it until the following week.
