Our Rotaplast Mission needs additional financial support to make our goal.  We would like to acknowledge and thank those clubs who have already donated: Belle Isle, Rockport, Lexington, Newburyport, Somerville, Winchester, Parkway, Wakefield, Gloucester, Andover, Marblehead Harbor, Chelsea, Manchester-Essex, Reading and Swampscott as well as the many individuals who have donated, and generous support from the District in the form of a District Managed Grant, but we still need more funds. 

 

The Rotaplast Mission is scheduled for March 8, 2025.  Rotaplast sends multidisciplinary medical teams to provide free reconstructive surgery, ancillary treatment, and training for the comprehensive care of children with cleft palates/lips and other deformities.

The cost of the mission is $88,000 to be raised throughout the district. We have raised in donations and pledges approximately $65,000.  We hope all District 7930 clubs will support the Mission with the cost of at least one surgery -- $800.  Donations from individuals will also be gratefully accepted.  If you have questions, please contact Terry Curran at 617-501-3521 or TerryCurran7930@gmail.com.

 

It is now time to plan your Polar Plunge to raise funds for Polio Eradication!  Here are the top ten clubs in Polio giving to date: 1. Beverly, $7,000; 2. Marblehead, $4,400; 3. Reading, $2,480; 4. Wilmington, $1,550; 5. Arlington; $1,100; 6. Lynn, $1,000; 7. Rockport, $931; 8. Andover, $550; 9. Lexington; $358.75; 10. Amesbury, $350.

 

We are inviting all clubs to organize a local Polar Plunge in their community (hence Distributed). Pick any date this winter (i.e. between now and Opening Day at Fenway Park). Plunge any way you want (ocean, dunk tank, swimming pool, jacuzzi, etc.)

 

Your club can do it alone or partner with other clubs around you. The Belle Isle Rotary and Parkway Rotary Clubs are organizing a joint event on Saturday, February 1, 2025.  The doors will open at 9am and the plunge will take place at 11am (which is high tide and there is a ramp we walk down and plunge from!)  So, if you want to join them, please reach out and RSVP to Joe Steffano, Vera Carducci, Tom Hankard or Terry Rezendes Curran.

 

On December 14, Ipswich High School Interact held the 15th annual Jingle Walk community-building fundraiser. This event, begun in 2009 by the then ‘Ipswich Rotary Club,’ has been organized and sponsored by Ipswich Interact since 2011. This much anticipated annual event has become a town tradition which aims to connect the community and lift everyone’s spirits during the holiday season!

 

The Jingle Bell Walk begins with Santa’s arrival at town wharf and ends at Town Hall where the celebrants enter ‘Santa’s Village’ of food, games, face painting, cookie decorating, and photos with Santa. The Ipswich High School String Quartet provided entertainment. A major part of the fundraiser involves raffles where baskets and gift cards, generously donated by local businesses, are given out. 

 

"We are extremely grateful to our sponsors and donors" said Interact President Jenny White. "This event would not be possible without the incredible support of these local businesses, which consistently give back to our community."

 

On December 17, 2024, the Burlington Interact Club hosted their annual Christmas Party, a festive event filled with joy, laughter, and the spirit of giving. Held at Burlington High School, the party brought together community members, including the Burlington Pride basketball team and participants from Echo Enrichment, for an evening of celebration and camaraderie.

 

Rotarians from the Burlington Rotary Club were on hand to support the festivities, lending their time and energy to ensure the event's success. They worked tirelessly to serve a delicious spread of pizza, calzones, and delectable desserts, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all attendees.

 

The highlight of the evening was a special visit from Santa Claus, who distributed gifts to the guests, much to their delight. The room was filled with excitement as recipients unwrapped their presents, their faces lighting up with smiles.

 

The Burlington Pride basketball team and Echo Enrichment participants were particularly grateful for the thoughtful gifts and the opportunity to come together as a community during the holiday season. The evening was not just about receiving but also about sharing happiness and building connections.

Stories that showcase your club or event should be submitted via the website portal at this link.  Your club's successes and events can give inspiration to other Rotarians.

 

The deadline for submitting items for the weekly District 7930 eBulletin is Friday morning in order to be included in the following Monday's edition.  If the eBulletin being prepared is getting to be too long and the story submitted is not time-sensitive, we may choose to delay including it until the following week.
