Microfinance - Empowering people across the globe

Please join us for this webinar on November 18th at 5:00 PM EDT to look into Microfinance and how we can easily come together to help to empower people around the globe to lift them out of povery by providing them with small loans to support them in buying chickens, buying a sewing machine, fabrics, seeds, and many other things that enable them to be more productive members of their societies.

We will look, in particular, at the non-profit organization Kiva that provides a platform to connect borrowers around the globe - via field partners in their home countries - with lenders in the US and Europe who come togehter to support those loans via crowd-funding.

Microfinance is an important topic for Rotary's area of focus concerning "Growing Local Economies" and, in particular, is a large focus for the Rotary Action Group for Community Economic Development

Newburyport Trivia Challenge
Newburyport: Come topple the smartest trivia team in the area!  The Rotary Club of Newburyport invites you to test the trivia waters, as Newburyport resident and business owner Jill Santopietro Panall hosts and shares her Jeopardy!® expertise with those brave enough to play a local version of the popular quiz show.  The games will be held on Thursday, November 18, at the Elks Club on Low Street in Newburyport.  Doors open at 6:30 and at 7:00 let the games begin!  Jill and her team have prepared questions that will span many categories, so everyone has an opportunity to showcase his or her unique knowledge.

Proceeds will support college scholarships for local students. According to Newburyport Rotary Club President Dan Hartman, “The club contributes up to $9,000 per year in scholarships to local graduating seniors. We are proud of our students and happy to help them. Your continued support is so important!”

Our generous major sponsor again this year is the Institution for Savings. Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available, including multiple round sponsorships at $100 each.

North Reading's Town Clean Up Party Dec. 4 & 5
The North Reading Rotary Club is proud to announce a new project with a mission of making this an annual or semi-annual event.  Volunteers of all ages are invited to come together for a common purpose of taking responsibility for our town in order to help create a clean, green, litter-free place to live, work and play!  While North Reading is a beautiful town, when you start looking for litter, you will see it everywhere – in neighborhoods, parking lots, sidewalks, buried in the woods and along the Ipswich River. From soda bottles to pizza boxes, beer cans and alcohol containers, amazon boxes and bubble wrap, plastic bags and old masks, there is an abundance of trash in our natural habitat.
