We have received questions about how individuals and clubs can make memorial gifts in honor of PDG Bob Wood.
For nearly 40 years, Mark Daniel Maloney and his family have demonstrated that Rotary connects the world. Now the self-described 'cheerful traveler' embarks on the next phase of his life's journey: serving as Rotary International's new president.
A matching grant from the Rockport Rotary Club and Rotary District 7930, along with in kind donations from Emerson Swan, Inc and Breen and Sullivan Mechanical Services, has provided the Action Emergency Shelter at 370 Main Street in Gloucester with a new energy efficient air conditioning system. This system will help to keep shelter guests and staff cool all summer long and save thousands of dollars in energy costs over the long term.
The Methuen Rotary Club celebrated it’s 2nd Annual June Jubilee by giving away money to deserving non –profits in Methuen. Each organization was invited to lunch and to speak about how the donation will help the people that are served in the community. President Julie Brady had the honor of presenting $1000.00 checks to each of the following organizations. Commander Curt Williams Accepted on behalf of the Methuen V.F.W. Post 8349. Larry & Eileen Giordano accepted on behalf of Merrimack Valley Foster Kids, City Councilor Jessica Finocchario and Cole Welch , President, accepted on behalf of the Merrimack Valley Prevention and Substance Abuse Project and Julia Pesek , Community Relations Director accepted of behalf of the MSPCA Nevins Farm.
The Rotary Club of Chelsea honored their 2019 scholarship winners and the 2019 Chelsea Public School’s Educator of the Year at a recent luncheon meeting. The Club awarded scholarships to five graduating seniors from Chelsea High School; Jocelyn Poste, Alny Herrera, Deedee Hernandez, Ivan Romero and Nildaliz Enamorado-Rodriguez. The Club also awarded a 6th special scholarship to Lizet Vasquez in memory of Rotarian Joanne Tarason who passed away recently. 
The Rotary Club of Lynn’s Scholarship Committee reviewed a record number of application packets this spring from graduating seniors before awarding four Thomas P. Maloney & Robert A. Hastings Memorial Scholarships at its luncheon meeting Thursday at Old Tyme Family Cuisine.
Christine Sloss will be heading to Suffolk University in the fall. A class leader at Marblehead High, Sloss embraced her commitment to community service. She is the President of the Marblehead High School Interact Club (Rotary Club at the High School level) and is working as a coordinator for all the North America Interact Clubs in a new, joint Rotary and UNICEF program, called the Initiative Interchange, to raise money for universal education. This summer, Sloss organized a Rotary service trip to Nepal to help deliver physical therapy to injured survivors of the earthquake that devastated the country in 2015. Sloss plans to continue her education in public administration, urban planning, and environmental sustainability.
