The DEI Committee had secured four great panelists and DEI subject matter experts, who shared some great ideas and initiatives.

The four Panelists were:

  • Bill Paulson - Rotary Club of Needham member, Past President, and Chair of the Rotary District 7910 Social Equity Task Force.

Wakefield Offers Chance to See Sox Up Close
The Wakefield Rotary Club will be hosting a Red Sox ticket raffle at the WCAT Movies by the Lake. Thanks to a generous donation from Rotarian Frank Fiorentino and Mahoney, Fiorentino, and Co., PC, raffle participants can win a pair of tickets for the Red Sox versus Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Club President Bruce Donovan explained, “These tickets are a great way to support our local projects and enjoy our first place Sox. Your twenty dollar donation can win you great seats between the visitor on-deck circle and home plate and all proceeds will benefit our humanitarian projects.”

Project Coordinator Barbara Worley added, "We are excited to have the ticket donation from Rotarian Frank and his firm to kick off the Wakefield Rotary year with a fun and easy fundraiser. It's a good warm up to get in the swing of bringing in funds for local Rotary projects."

Tickets are on sale during the Movies by the Lake on the Common on July 8th, July 22nd, and August 5th. Visit the Rotary table to grab your chance to win. Tickets are also available at Holiday Travel (402 Main Street) and at WCAT (24 Hemlock Road). You can also Venmo the club @wakefieldrotaryclub. Indicate “sox raffle” in the memo and provide your contact information. Only 120 chances will be sold and the winning ticket will be pulled at 8:00p, on Thursday August 5th at the Movies by the Lake event.

Greater Salem's Dental Initiative
The Greater Salem NH Rotary Club committed to a multi-year program to support dental care through the Children’s Dental Network.

According to Dianne Powers, Program Director of the Children’s Dental Network, the program provided care to 142 Salem, NH students in Pre-K through Grade 12 towards the end of last year.

The program’s success is a result of the tremendous support provided by Dr. Michael Delahanty, Salem NH school superintendent. It should be noted that Dr. Delahanty is a also a member of the Greater Salem, NH Rotary Club.
The program enhanced its infection control protocols to operate safely.  It is estimated that the value of services, not including the network's education piece was $45,458.52.

This effort covers 8 schools in Salem. In addition to the Greater Salem Rotary Club it is supported by other local community groups. In addition, the program is highly grateful for the dentists and their staffs who donate their time and expertise to this important health effort.

The Children’s Dental Network has functioned for 13 years. It provides dental care to children who don’t have access to dental coverage.
