Rotary International Convention 2022 in Houston
Earlier this month, 17 members of our district, including the entire DG-Track, attended the Rotary International Convention 2022 in Houston, TX. It was an amazing gathering of over 11,000 Rotarians from around the globe and we attended many of the general sessions, quite a few breakout sessions, and some of us also went to the Youth Exchange Officer Pre-Convention that was held two days prior to the main convention.

We learned a lot, listened to many inspiring talks, and - most importantly - found connections with Rotarians from all over the world during the various lunch and dinner events.

Our own district hosted a well-attended Tex-Mex dinner on Monday, where we had friends from our surrounding districts attending as well as friends from Austria, Australia, and other countries.

There were many opportunities to meet with Rotary senior leaders and even get the occasional selfie or group photo with them. And we took many group photos with our DG and DGE classmates.

District Installation 2022
Please join us as we celebrate the Installation of District Officers & Club Presidents in Rotary District 7930 on June 30th, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the Danversport, 161 Elliott St, Danvers. Since we are a little bit later than usual with the date of our installation, the theme for this year’s event is “It’s Almost the Fourth of July”.

Accordingly, we will have a summer cookout style dinner buffet with Danversport's own New England Clam Chowder, Warm Dinner Rolls, Strawberry Salad and Caesar Salad, Quinoa and Vegetable Salad, Watermelon Salad, Grilled Steak Tips, Chipotle BBQ Chicken, Hardwood Smoked Pulled Pork, Herbed Potato Salad, Corn on the Cob, and we will finish the evening with Blueberry Tarts and coffee/tea.

Doors will open at 5:30 and we will have cheese platters, vegetable crudites, and a cash bar for fellowship from 6:00 – 6:45 PM. A brief opening ceremony will be held from 6:45 – 7:00 PM followed by dinner starting at 7:00 PM. At 7:45 PM we will begin the installation festivities. The dinner cost per person is $65.

Online registration is now open! Registration and online payment are required: please click here for more details and to register members and guests.

We recommend that Rotary Clubs skip their regular meetings that week and instead encourage their members to attend the Installation!
Rockport's Uganda Project
The Rockport Rotary Club used a District 7930 Matching Grant to complete Phase One of the construction of the Kateta House of Joy.  It is a kitchen and dining hall on the second campus of the Village2Village Project in a very remote area of northeastern Uganda.  The Village2Village Project is a charitable organization based in Indiana.  It serves children in an area of Uganda where four out of five families live in devastating poverty.  The second campus had only had a latrine and main office.  It had no place for eating, teaching or meeting.  Instead, children had to walk up to 20KM for activities on the main campus.

This project will ultimately benefit up to 150 children and their guardians.  But even unfinished, the building has allowed 56 children to have their daily activities in their own local area.  This area of Uganda is food insecure.  Children are used to having only one meal per day, often lacking in nutrition.  Now they will have regular meals and participate in their lessons on the local campus.

The Kateta House of Joy is well on the way to becoming a place not only to eat but to learn, sing, dance and grow.
Marblehead Announces Scholarship Recipients
The Marblehead Rotary Club congratulates the students who have been awarded its 2022 scholarships in academics, leadership, community service, and extracurricular activities.   These scholarships support one of Marblehead Rotary Club's most important goals: assisting local students in pursuing their studies at higher education institutions.  Yearly, Marblehead Rotary awards four to six students with a one-time scholarship and one with a four-year scholarship.  There are six outstanding awardees:  Sophia Nickolas, Tariq Abdelkahlek, Benjamin Kahn, Alexis Earp, Grace Miller, and Owen Murphy.

Greater Salem Memorial Day Project
Members of the Greater Salem Rotary Club restored by cleaning Veterans' head stones for the fallen Iraq Veterans during Memorial Day Weekend.

This is the second annual clean-up.  We will be returning in November to continue to honor those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
