Donations Still Needed for Rotaplast Mission

Our Rotaplast Mission is still in need of financial support. The Rotaplast Mission to Cebu, which we had sponsored for many years, is scheduled for March 2024. Rotaplast sends multidisciplinary medical teams to provide free reconstructive surgery, ancillary treatment, and training for the comprehensive care of children with cleft palates/lips and other deformities.

The cost of the mission is $88,000 to be raised throughout the district. Sponsoring clubs should contribute at least one surgery ($800) or raise the equivalent. Donations from individuals will also be gratefully accepted. If you have questions, please contact Terry Curran at 617-501-3521 or TerryCurran7930@gmail.com.

Terry is available to visit your club and make a presentation, please reach out. Checks can be made payable to Rotaplast and sent to our Rotaplast Treasurer at Eagle Bank, Attention: Stephen Miliotis, 350 Broadway, Everett, MA 02151.

Be Bold, Get Cold for Polio

We saw the first few snowflakes this past week and it is now time to plan your Polar Plunge to raise funds for Polio Eradication!

We are inviting all clubs to organize a local Polar Plunge in their community (hence Distributed). Pick any date this winter (i.e. between now and Opening Day at Fenway Park). Plunge any way you want (ocean, dunk tank, swimming pool, jacuzzi, etc.)

Your club can do it alone or partner with other clubs around you. The Belle Isle Rotary and Parkway Rotary Clubs are organizing a joint event on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The doors will open at 9am and the plunge will take place at 11am (which is high tide and there is a ramp we walk down and plunge from!) So, if you want to join them, please reach out and RSVP to Joe Steffano, Vera Carducci, Tom Hankard or Terry Rezendes Curran.

New Members Join Ipswich-Rowley

Ipswich-Rowley Rotary is delighted to announce that Chris Moore and Steele Sartwell have joined Rotary, where we achieve more together than we can alone.

A resident of Ipswich, Chris Moore is Director of the Crane Estate. Previously, he served for several years as the Business Manager for the Trustees. In his capacity as a local non-profit leader, Chris has extensive experience working with local community and business leaders, as well as with town administrators. As might be expected, Chris enjoys outdoor recreation, especially fishing. Club President Tom Murphy is the sponsor and mentor for Chris.

Steele Sartwell of Ipswich is a Vice President of Business Banking at Citizens Bank. He is a member of both the Newburyport and Amesbury Chambers of Commerce and serves as a mentor, educator and presenter at the American Corporate Partners Veterans Organization. His volunteer activities have included the Manchester, NH Foodbank. Steele is a lifelong resident of the North Shore and previously volunteered and organized fundraisers for Action, Inc., GHS Sail, and HAWC. Drawing on his skills as an experienced relationship manager, Steele looks forward to assisting Rotary in its mission and engaging more area residents in community service. Membership Chair Deborah Mahoney is Steele’s sponsor and mentor.

We welcome Steele and Ashley, Chris and Rachel to the Rotary family.

Winchester Delivers Holiday Meals

This holiday season, the Winchester Rotary Club and Winchester High School’s Interact Club joined forces to deliver joy and warmth to our community. Together, they provided over 100 holiday meals to senior citizens residing at the Winchester Housing Authority.

The initiative brought smiles, comfort, and a sense of connection to Winchester’s senior residents, ensuring that no one felt alone during this festive time of year. The Rotary and Interact Club members worked hand in hand, embodying the true spirit of giving and community service.

Wakefield Announces Officers & Directors for 2025-26

The Wakefield Rotary Club recently announced the election of its new officers and directors at its Annual Meeting. The club elects new leadership each year in accordance with its by-laws. The 2025-2026 Board of Directors include Margie Daniels, Joie Gerrish, Mike Sullivan, Jill McWilliam, Craig Calabrese, Wendy Maguire (Immediate Past President) and Amy Luckiewicz (Past Presidents’ Representative). Suzanne Bowering will serve as Club Secretary, Barbara Worley as Club Treasurer and Frank Fiorentino as Sergeant-at-Arms. Paul Adams was elected Vice President/President-Elect and Kathy Boyle will serve as President for the 2024-2025 term.

President-Elect Kathy Boyle has most recently served as Program Chair and served on the Board of Directors. Kathy has aimed at incorporating more youth programming into the club’s aims. “I’m looking forward to the club continuing our tradition of local community service,” she said. “I invite the community to consider joining us so we can do even more.”

The new leadership team will begin on July 1, 2025, and serve until June 30, 2026.

Has your club recently hosted an event or project or are you planning something in the near future that you would like to share with your fellow District 7930 Rotarians?

The weekly eBulletin depends on the content provided by clubs, so please submit your stories and we will publish them on the district website and in the next eBulletin. Stories that showcase your club or event should be submitted via the website portal at this link. Your club's successes and events can give inspiration to other Rotarians.

The deadline for submitting items for the weekly District 7930 eBulletin is Friday morning in order to be included in the following Monday's edition. If the eBulletin being prepared is getting to be too long and the story submitted is not time-sensitive, we may choose to delay including it until the following week.
