International Grant Project: A Focus on Menstrual Hygiene

The Downtown Boston Rotary Club is kicking off the new Rotary year working on an international grant that will benefit up to 15,000 women and girls, and would love your support!

By partnering with Rotary clubs in Ghana and around the world, as well as experts in the field and several non-profit organizations, DBRC is working to address menstrual health management in rural Ghana, which affects women and girls who lack access to sanitary products, as well as hygienic, safe spaces in which to use them. Menstruation causes 1 in 10 young women to miss school, some dropping out altogether. Affected individuals may also face increased risk of disease and/or social stigma. Access to safe and affordable menstrual health management resources for young women in Africa is crucial for their long-term health and economic empowerment.

D7930 Embraces Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

A top priority for Rotary District 7930 is growing and diversifying our membership to make sure we reflect the communities we serve and are inclusive of all cultures, experiences, and identities. To that extent, our district Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee is excited to announce that we have not only added many more (and diverse) members to our committee, but also created a new page on our district website that includes both Rotary and non-Rotary resources to help you with training, background information, and assessments regarding unconscious bias, creating an inclusive environment, and taking a clear anti-racist stance.

Rotary Supports ShelterBox
The last few months have been unlike anything we have ever seen, and as a Rotarian I am proud of our ability to adapt and respond in our communities and around the world. I have presented ShelterBox to clubs in “virtual” meetings across the country and have witnessed how Rotary efforts are making a difference. It is inspirational.

Total Rotary club and individual Rotarian support for ShelterBox USA in District 7930 (through 6/26/2020) is $7,827!

Four D7930 clubs contributed $2,477 of the total donations, including the Bronze Donors Interact Club of Marblehead High School and the Rotary Club of Topsfield, Boxford, Middleton.
